The bag rule on the Theresienwiese

Only small bags with a maximum volume of 3 litres or up to 20 × 15 × 10 centimetres are allowed on the festival grounds – roughly a small handbag or a mini backpack. Bags are checked at every entrance; permitted bags get a security band in the colour of the day.

A regular day pack, a holdall or a suitcase will not get through security. If you are heading straight from the train to the Wiesn, drop your luggage off first.

What else is not allowed

Drinks without glass are allowed on the grounds but not inside the tents and beer gardens. Umbrellas, walking aids and baby carriers are allowed.

  • Glass bottles
  • Objects that could be used as weapons
  • Gas spray cans with harmful contents
  • Corrosive or staining substances

Storage at the gate or with us?

The city offers luggage storage at entrances P1, P5, P8 and P10 for €5 per item. That is handy if you are already at the entrance and only need to drop one bag. Capacity is limited and not guaranteed – on busy days it can fill up.

With us you reserve online in advance, drop off at Marsstraße 13 – five minutes from Central Station – and pick up daily until 10:00 PM. Ideal if you arrive by train, have several bags or a large suitcase, or stay overnight.

Getting to the Wiesn

From Central Station: take the U4 or U5 one stop to Theresienwiese. On foot it is about 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the entrance.

From us (Marsstraße 13): walk back to Central Station and take the U-Bahn – or walk in about 20 to 25 minutes.

Theresienwiese station can be closed temporarily on busy days. Allow extra time; the stations Goetheplatz, Poccistraße and Schwanthalerhöhe are also within walking distance.

Tips for a relaxed Oktoberfest day

  • Book ahead at weekends and on 3 October – that is when it gets busiest.
  • Keep valuables, ID and cash with you – they do not belong in stored luggage.
  • Choose a generous pick-up time. If you're staying until closing time, book pick-up for the next morning – we're open daily until 10:00 PM.
  • Dirndl on, suitcase off: on departure day leave your suitcase with us, celebrate, and head straight to your train in the evening.
  • Several days in Munich? From 2 days you automatically get 10% off.
